ABOUT PURCHASING THE SSL CERTIFICATE
The end-user MUST purchase an SSL Certificate as a part of the security measures when using the Galaxy Apps in a live/production environment.
When purchasing an SSL Certificate, you must create a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) with a Certificate Authority (CA) of your choosing (such as Comodo, GoDaddy, Semantic, Verisign, etc.). The CA of your choosing must assist you in generating the CSR and with installing the SSL Certificate.
IMPORTANT NOTICES ...
- An SSL Certificate will encrypt the communications between the Galaxy Mobile Apps and the Web API Server.
- The SSL Certificate must be installed on the same communication server where the GCS Web API Service is installed.
- You must submit a Certificate Signing Request ( CSR ) to a Certificate Authority who will issue a secure digital SSL Certificate for a cost.
- You must remember where the Certificate is imported in your certificate store!!! (notate which branch or path in the Certificate Store the certificate is installed).
- The SSL Certificate must have a Privacy Key icon present
- You must provide the appropriate information to the Certificate Authority (CA) and cover any associated costs.
- Contact your Certificate Authority for technical support when submitting information to obtain the CSR and purchase an SSL certificate.
RECOMMENDATIONS & STIPULATIONS ...
IMPORTANT: Consider the certificate lifespan. The mobile apps will stop working when the Certificate expires.
IMPORTANT: Self-signed certificates will not work in a live/production environment.
